WLPT London Masters / A PadX tournament system
An urgent job. Live on every screen.
World Legends Padel Tour brought 12 football legends to Epsom for the London Masters, with PadX as the tour's technology partner. Genius Digital Labs designed, built and operated the live scoring console, venue TV channel and synchronisation system under the PadX banner, turning the whole system around at short notice as an urgent job and keeping every display current within three seconds.
01 The brief
Short notice. Every screen in the venue.
Make consumer TVs look like a broadcast system.
The London Masters line-up put 12 football legends on court in six pairs. The venue had big screens, but no broadcast truck, graphics operator or scoring system. Results would be called courtside, the televisions were consumer smart panels of unknown make, and play began the next morning.
The brief was simple to say and difficult to deliver: put live standings, results and sponsor branding on every screen, keep them in sync all day, and make the output look like television.
The answer had to be a URL that any smart TV browser could open, with scoring controlled from a phone beside the court.

02 What we built
A TV channel, a courtside console and the engine between them.
One URL turns a screen into the tournament feed.
Any screen in the venue could open the TV route and become a self-running broadcast feed, cycling through animated tournament graphics with a persistent statistics bar and sponsor branding in every frame.
Scoring ran from a Supabase-authenticated phone console. The event team could pick the pairs, enter the games and save a match in seconds, or start, close and reopen the tournament with one tap.
A saved result took over every screen as a latest-result spotlight for ten minutes. If several matches arrived together, the system queued each one in order before returning to the normal rotation.

03 The hard part
Dual transport, version reconciliation and automatic recovery.
Engineered for hostile TVs.
Venue smart TVs combine aggressive HTML caches, patchy WebSocket support and no developer tools when a panel fails three metres up a wall. The system could not depend on any one browser feature behaving properly.
Supabase Realtime delivered instant updates over WebSockets. A three-second HTTP poll against the serverless state endpoint ran alongside it for panels that silently blocked sockets. Every payload carried a version stamp, so the newest state won and duplicates were discarded.
Each deployment also published its own build ID. Displays polled for that ID and hard-reloaded themselves within 30 seconds of a new release, while a service worker kept stale TV caches out of the way.
A screen could be refreshed, power-cycled or swapped mid-event and reconverge in seconds.
04 How it shipped
An urgent turnaround, hardened during live play.
The commit log is the production record.
The commit log tells the story in order: the dashboard, scoring console, six team pages and Supabase synchronisation came first, followed by the EA7 presenting header, PadX identity, player imagery and sponsor slide.
The venue screens opened the TV route on the morning of 8 May. When real panels exposed stale caches and blocked WebSockets, the fallback transport, cache-busting service worker and deployment reload were shipped and checked while play continued.
By 19:40 every display was confirmed converged and self-updating. From then on, the system ran itself through to the podium.

These are our own photographs from PadelHub Epsom across the two days. The venue screens are running the live channel exactly as built, down to the built-by credit in the frame, while the legends warmed down, signed and watched their results land around it.
The team operated the tournament from the same rooms as the players, which is how a courtside console and a wall of self-updating screens got tested by the people they were built for.
